European Astro Pi Challenge – Mission Zero is ready for the ISS!

ESA Education and partners are delighted to announce the launch of the final stage of Mission Zero, during which over 1700 school student teams from 22 ESA Member and Associate States will have their code run on the International Space Station (ISS). Participating teams will shortly be contacted to explain whether or not their code will run on the ISS. Things get critical for CubeSat teams

Four of the six student teams from the Fly Your Satellite! programme have travelled to ESTEC to find out what it takes to get their CubeSat through the Critical Design Review (CDR). It is indeed a critical moment in their project. The review process evaluates the overall quality of the CubeSat design to confirm that it is suitable to meet the technical and programmatic requirements. This exciting resource consists of nine practical activities based upon the search for exoplanets, (planets beyond our own solar system), where life may exist. Aimed at primary children aged 7–11, activities are based around working scientifically and link to many aspects of the science curriculum including; space, light, states of matter, living things and their environment, evolution and inheritance, animals, including humans, forces and magnets, electricity, materials and sound.
